LAWYER KENNETH HERRING, TODAY I SUBMITTED A REVIEW IN GOOGLE ACCENTUATING MY LEGAL ASSISTANCE WITH MY TRUST. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR EXPERT GUIDANCE AND WRITTEN RESULT OF MY SECOND AMENDMENT TO MY TRUST.
At the time of my parent's passing, which was complicated, Ken and his team went above and beyond in navigating the legal morass that can play out with families of Alzheimers patients. The outcome of our experience would have been devastating without Ken and his colleagues. They have my respect, and gratitude.
I wish I had known about KC Elder Law months ago. It has been overwhelming caring for my 97 year old mom-in-law. The 24/7 hands on care doesn't compare to the confusion and stress of the paperwork and legal side. THEN I spoke with Amber Thailing, attorney at KC Elder Law. Oh my goodness, there isn't a word to describe how kind, patient, compassionate, understanding and helpful she was. She could relate to my situation due to her own personal family experiences with her parents. She was knowledgeable and a true blessing. I would recommend Amber and KC Elder Law to anyone needing their services.
Ken Herring & Dan Flack were very knowledgeable and professional in helping me apply for Kansas Medicaid benefits for my mother. They did everything they said they would and were very patient with me and made it a very easy and as stress free as possible. I am very pleased with them and highly recommend them to anyone needing assistance with the Medicaid process.
Ken Herring and Dan Flack were very knowledgeable and professional in guiding our family to apply for Medicaid benefits for our parents, and thus protecting a portion of our parent's estate. Their calculations were accurate, and their explanations were understandable. They did everything that they said they would do, and the end results were just as they predicted. We are very pleased that we used their firm to help us, and highly recommend them.
I would like to thank Ken Herring in explaining and answering the many questions that my wife and had about our need for a trust. I highly recommend Ken as a knowledgeable expert in estate counseling. Thanks again Ken!!
Courtney Roy is an attorney who is passionate about the work she does. She and her staff were extremely helpful throughout the probate process. The firm was incredibly responsive to my family’s calls and we never felt like we were “just another client.” Highly recommend and will be using again for my own estate planning.
I want to thank Griffin Day for his professionalism during a tough time when my father passed away unexpectedly. My father did not have anything prepared in writing for me, so I was at a loss as what to do next. Griffin was the perfect person to walk me through probate and the steps needed to get through the process. With his compassion and expertise to help families in situations such as mine, it made a sad time much less stressful . I recommend Griffin for your legal questions and assistance. Thank you Griffin!!
Griffin, I want to thank you so much for your assistance with getting my new POA prepared and now in place. It was indeed a pleasure meeting you and working with you in this endeavor. You are a wonderful young man and a great asset to the firm, I’m sure. I would highly recommend you to anyone needing any of the services that KC Elder Law now provides. I know that Bill would be very proud that you’re a member of their team. I don’t have a google account, but I would like for you and the firm to know that I definitely give you a “FIVE STARS” rating in all areas.
I can’t thank KC Elder Law enough. A few years back Ken Herring and Lori Sanders helped me get my mom on Medicaid. It was crucial to get her on Medicaid so she could be cared for in a nursing home. This was no small task. They held my hand the entire way. In the end my mom was able to get on Medicaid and was able to get the care she needed. Most recently I needed to get a decree of decent for my mothers estate. Ken Herring and Jana Hennessey made the process very easy and once again knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend this law firm for all your Elder law needs.
I wanted to take a moment to write a personal and authentic review about a company that helped make a such a positive impact in my life. Amber had been my parents’ lawyer to set up my Mother’s Will and DPOA when my Father fell ill. Without knowing what was to come, because of her and her teams efforts we had unknowingly prepared for the near future. Not even a few months past the finalization of most of my parents documents my family was struck with a tragedy. Both of my parents contracted COVID19 and our lives were forever changed. Because of Amber’s hard work and dedication we were unknowingly prepared for this awful situation. Unfortunately, I lost both of my parents in February to COVID 5 days apart from each other and that is when all of the hard work and dedication of the KC Elder Law team came into play. Throughout their battles not only was Amber, Lori and their team there for the legal guidance but they helped set my mind at ease assisting me handling my parents affairs that quickly became my responsibility. Their customer service was exceptional and their response time to emails and phone calls exceeded far beyond my expectations. When I lost my parents there were a few minor affairs that had to go to probate. I was then directed to Griffin within the firm but on the probate side. He too exceeded all of my expectations. When you hear the word probate there is sometimes a negative connotation that it is going to be a headache and can take forever. That however was not the case. It was completely opposite and the process was very smooth and again we were guided every step of the way. Griffin was there to answer any of my questions and explain different processes that I was unfamiliar with. He completed all of the legal documents needed in such a timely manner and was very thorough on what he needed from me and what his role would be throughout this process. The KC Elder Law team exceeded any and all expectations. I can honestly say that I would have been completely loss without the help of Amber and Griffin. Without their exceptional work and customer service I don’t know how I would have been able to get through all the legality aspects of loosing both of my parents. They are a big firm but they treat you like you are family. I would recommend them 100% of the time to anyone looking for services. You will not be let down. I guarantee it. Thank you Amber and Griffin from the bottom of my heart. If I could give you 100 stars I would.
I am an attorney who has practiced for almost 50 years. When I needed legal help for my 93 year old mother i selected Dan Flack at KC Elder Law. He is knowledgeable, understanding and generous with his time. I recommend him without reservation.
Great to work with, very responsive and knowledgeable would highly recommend to anyone trying to navigate the Medicaid system I found it to be a great value.
My initial goal was simply to update my trust documents, will, powers of attorney and provide appropriate language in the documents specific to my future elder care needs and situations. What I received was above & beyond my expectations. I met with attorneys Ken Herring & Rachel Spaethe, both knowledgeable, caring professionals whose suggestions were appropriate to my situation. Ken's expertise regarding my questions, current issues and future concerns has given me peace of mind. I know that my wishes and plans will be put into place with the same caring and concern given to my family members in the future.
I called hoping for assistance in how to help my mother who has multiple chronic conditions and costly medical expenses. They were able to get me started on the right path over the phone at no cost! It was wonderful to know I could get started before even having an appointment. Fantastic customer service which relieved the apprehension I had at dealing with these issues. I look forward to working with this practice in the future.
Rachel was so helpful and kind with my dad. She took the time to answer all of our questions and accommodate the situation. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
As a Seniors Real Estate Broker Specialist I constantly have clients and families who are not prepared to make decision on their own or for elderly parents. Often times it happens quickly when emotions are high and important decisions need to be handled with care and concern. The ONLY firm I will recommend is KC Elder law. Courtney Roy always takes the time to answer my questions and makes certain my clients will be handled with respect and the utmost care. She truly cares which is a quality not often found. They take the time to educate you and protect your family and your families assets.
Amber Thailing was a great attorney for me and my family. She was efficient and knowledgeable of our needs and informed us thoroughly of our legal needs. She is a wonderful representative of the law firm. I highly recommend her.
Amber was a delight to work with. She is very caring and answered all of my questions.
Everyone was easy to work with and timely.
My situation---desperate. My husband suffered a massive stroke and could only be cared for in a nursing home facility. This--without the means for such care. The maze to receive Medicaid is overwhelming. Elder Law walked me thru the steps of this difficult time with knowledge, efficiency, care and reassurance of his being accepted. There are no words to describe the relief to be in such capable hands
Rachael was extremely professional and helpful due to her knowledge of the services I'd requested. I recommend using this agency to any person who is eligible.
Hey Your website's design is absolutely brilliant. The visuals really enhance your message and the content compels action. I have forwarded it to a few of my contacts who I think could benefit from your services. When I was looking at your website, though, I noticed a slight issue re: your SEO that I thought you might not be aware of. It is a relatively simple fix. Would you like me to write it up so that you can share it with your web team? If this is a priority, I can also get on a call. Regards, Sarah Williams
KCELDER LAW were amazing at getting us through the medicaid experience when my parents needed long term care. I would highly recommend them. We will be using them again when the time comes!!!!!!
Recently worked with KC Elder Law and had a great experience. Staff was very informative and patient with all of the questions that I had.
The assistance all the staff at KC Elder Law provided to my family as we worked through the Medicaid approval process for my aunt was fantastic. Everyone I met was professional and delightful to work with; their care and concern for their clients and making a complex process easier was obvious. Well done, KC Elder Law! Many thanks!
KC Elder Law is a very professional group! My attorney, Rachel Spaethe handled my probate case. She was extremely thorough and very knowledgeable! Rachel made the probate process go very smooth for me! She totally looked out for my best interest, which was very important to me! I am very grateful to Rachel and KC Elder Law!
We have had the pleasure of working with KC Elder Law since 2017. Our attorney Rachel Spaethe has guided us through some very difficult and lengthy legal issues. Her dedication and compassion reaches far beyond just client/attorney relationship. I highly recommend KC Elder Law. Helen and Julie
Have been working with them for a very long time now getting my parents on Medicaid. It works, but be prepared for more paperwork that you thought would ever be nec. It has been a job that has taken up much of my time. Good thing I'm retired, or I couldn't have done all this if I still worked. Appreciate their handling of last will/testament and preparing all the necessary items to make me power of attorney. I have needed that document over the years.
We walked into KC Elder Law in somewhat of a frenzy. Our elderly parents had done nothing to set up their estate & their health was failing!! From day one we were treated with respect & with white glove service! We've been working together for over two years & all of our questions & concerns have been treated professionally & promptly! Daniel Flack has contacted me almost monthly since December 2018 to help us go through the process of preparing for Medicaid should my parents need to go into assisted living! Our family highly recommends KC Elder Law!!attorneys and are experts with Medicaid and VA benefits.
KC Elder Law’s knowledge and experience allows families to have a peace of mind in regards to developing estate planning that is personalized to each individual. They are truly dedicated to the senior population and it is important to them that each client achieves their individual goals whether that is to remain at home or to be able to afford to live in a senior living facility. They are strictly elder law attorneys and are experts with Medicaid and VA benefits.
KC Elder Law does a great job for our region's seniors. They are passionate about getting the best possible outcomes for their clients. We highly recommend their services.
KC Elder Law staff at the Overland Park, Kansas office worked tirelessly with us, regarding our father's process of applying for Medicaid benefits. Patience and thoroughness are only two hallmarks of the work they do. Any questions we had were answered with complete explanations . . . as what appeared to be common sense answers to required fact finding didn't always meet legal requirements! This office staff's work is truly worthy of the highest accolades possible!!!
Our family contacted KC Elder Law when in 2012 or 2013 my husband was diagnosed with dementia. Bill Hammond and everyone at KC Elder Law were excellent members of the firm. Their work for us gave us great confidence that Bob would have resources, and that I would be able to protect my resources if I should need care in the future. I was accompanied frequently by my son-in-law, who is an attorney, and he would encourage me to trust KC Elder Law as he felt they had my welfare in mind during our dealings. We have great admiration KC Elder Law team.
I called KC Elder Law late in the day and spoke with Jana. She listened patiently as I explained our situation and promptly addressed the problem and helped resolve the issue. Very knowledgable and friendly.
Due to recent health issues facing my parents, it was necessary to contact KC Elder Law for POA, Will, and Trust modifications. I can only say good things about the process and working with KC Elder Law. They led us through and were very patient with us each step of the way. While everyone was great, I must make a special callout to Emma. She was absolutely wonderful and kind during each of my 40+ emails with her. If you required elder law services do not hesitate to use KC Elder Law.
Our family engaged KC Elder Law regarding an application for Kansas Medicaid, KanCare, for our 93 year old mother. They were phenomenal. The communication was fantastic. The list of documentation required for the application was clear and concise, and calls were always returned within a few hours the same day. Thank you Amber, Courtney and especially Dan for all your assistance regarding our mother. Collectively, we highly recommend KC Elder Law. Deborah Crane and the entire King Family.
I am an only child with a parent in a nursing home. Without any family to rely on for help it was nice to have KC Elder Law take care of all of the paperwork and legwork to get my mother qualified for Medicaid. It really took a great load off my shoulders.
Everyone I worked with at KC Elder Law was very caring and professional. They always answered my questions and kept me informed of each step of the process. I absolutely recommend them!
My family and I cannot thank the staff at KC Elder Law enough for helping us to navigate the Kansas Medicaid process while in the middle of a pandemic. After seeing all of the work that it requires it get it done right, we know we could not have done it by ourselves. Dan was extremely kind, professional, and patient with our many, many questions. Thank you!
KC Elder Law was invaluable during the entire process. They provided the necessary information for gathering all the required paperwork for applying for Medicaid. And they followed up with Medicaid.to keep the process moving and also when the application was denied incorrectly. Dan was prompt in his follow up and answering any and all questions we had. He was patient with my mothers questions and concerns. Cannot imagine going thru this process without his help. Would highly recommend this firm to anyone needing assistance.
We engaged KC Elder Law to file the Will of a deceased relative with the court. On the whole our experience has been positive, particularly once Rachel Spaethe was assigned to our case.
Truly outstanding people and service, I highly recommend KC Elder Law. After years of dealing with an attorney who made us feel like we were imposing on his time, and talking down to us, Courtney Roy and her team made us feel that our concerns were valid. She was on our side the whole time, taking the time to ask questions and explain things to us.
My family met with Bill Hammond to help understand what our options were for my mother and father in law. Bill provided a great overview of the senior care options that we had given the difficult situation that we were in. He gave us great advice during the one hour consultation. We really appreciated his willingness to explain our options and where to go for help.
I had the privilege of working with Dan Flack on a myriad of complicated issues regarding my parents and how to best manage their care. Dan was responsive, empathetic, well-versed in the law, personable and made a difficult situation manageable. My initial contact with KC Elder Law was with Amber, who was also wonderful to work with. She too is the consummate professional and when we had concluded the portion of the legal piece she was responsible for, she introduced me to Dan. This firm is exceptional in their understanding of the complexities of having not only to deal with the concerns you're struggling with in taking care of your elderly parents, but help you navigate the legal maze on ensuring you receive the correct guidance and advise. Elder Care was a god-send and Dan especially mad the journey pleasant. I so much appreciated him especially when everything was overly complicated by COVID. I highly recommend KC Elder Law and two of it's outstanding partners Dan and Amber!
KC Elder Law is by far the best decision I made when faced with the Medicaid application process for my elderly mother. From my very first call to KC Elder Law, I was reassured that they would provide the support that I needed and they most certainly did. They took me step by step and explained everything in detail as to the process and what was needed. I had the pleasure of working with Dan Flack of KC Elder Law. I cannot say enough positive things about Dan. If I had a question, he would always call or reply via e-mail in a very timely manner and put any concerns I may have had at ease. His knowledge of the entire process has been a source of reassurance to me throughout. Placing an elderly parent in a Long term care facility can be stressful enough (especially during a pandemic) and not to mention having to suddenly deal with their finances and the requirements Medicaid has in place for applying. If you are thinking about KC Elder Law, think no more. Give them a call today. Best call you will ever make.
My mother and father were wanting to update their wills, powers of attorney, and trust documents to include elder care language. As the named administrator in these documents, I was involved in all of the aspects of this process. We began meeting with Bill Hammond at the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We were able to meet with him only one time in his office. We accomplished the rest of the tasks via phone, email, zoom, and using a mobile notary. While this was not an ideal situation, KC Elder Law had all of the technology, information and staff that was needed to complete this daunting task. Once we approved the final documents that were sent via email, we were overnighted a binder with all the final documents flagged for signatures. A simple appointment setup with a mobile notary and 2 witnesses followed, and my parents were able to get everything signed and notarized utilizing window access so as to keep us all safe and socially distanced. Everyone at KC Elder Law was helpful, accessible and knowledgeable.
I first contacted KC Elder Law in June 2020 to draft paperwork for my parents' estate and to help guide our family through the process of planning for any eventuality with their health. Not only has the firm been thorough and responsive, but I have felt like KC Elder Law is truly on our team. They are incredibly compassionate, always leading our conversations with questions about how the family is doing, and always answering every question I bring to the table. I have been given many resources to help navigate the uncertainty of a family member in poor health, and I deeply appreciate the individually tailored experience. We navigated our process with video calls, phone calls, emails, and finally, an in-person signing session. We were socially distanced and masked, and everything was contactless. I will absolutely recommend KC Elder Law to family and friends.
My mother and I didn't know anything about applying for Medicaid. I live in Sweden and my mother is 95 years old, living in a nursing home, and has no computer knowledge so we knew this was going to be a difficult process. KC Elder Law came to our rescue. They provided the necessary legal documents, made the applications and gave us all the advice we needed in a timely manner. They always responded quickly to questions, even when dealing with large time zone differences.
I cannot thank Lori Sanders enough for all her help! Very professional! At the same time, caring and just a good soul with compassion!
My brother and I consulted KC Elder Law to plan for our mother. We consulted with Rachel, and she could not have been more easy and accessible to work with. Everything was done in a very timely manner considering with what is going on all around us. We cannot thank Rachel enough for all of the work that she did for us. I would highly recommend KC Elder Law for anyone needing help with elder planning.
I was so stressed out for taking care of my sick husband meantime I had to work. I thought this going to be my life forever until I heard KC Elder Law. I am so glad I made an appointment with them. Amber and Dan ( the Elder Law attorney) are so professional and knowledgeable on the issues of elder care, estate planning and Medicaid application for my husband including the power of attorney for both of us. I am very grateful for KC Elder Law attorney able to help my husband get in a long term care facility under Medicaid and meantime help me to secure my income without bankruptcy. What a relief!
I have worked with Ken Herring for many years. He has done Estate Planning and Medicaid planning for my clients as well as for my parents and me personally. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a great work ethic. He takes the time to get to know his clients so that he understands how they want their affairs handled in case they become incapacitated as well as upon their death. I highly recommend Ken Herring at Elder and Disability Law Firm for any Estate Planning and Medicaid Planning needs.
KC Elder Law was instrumental in helping me create documents on which I had been procrastinating. Lori Sanders was invaluable, patiently & thoroughly guiding me through the process. They were also very creative when it was time to witness, sign & pick up the documents during a pandemic quarantine! I highly recommend this firm for elder law needs. They are truly efficient, helpful & kind.
All of us at some point need legal advice with a trust, will or asset protection. Ken Herring at KC Elder Law is the person to see. He is extremely knowledgeable yet able to explain things, not in confusing legal jargon, but simple, understandable language. Ken and his staff can assist you in whatever legal need you have in a professional and timely manner. I recommend Ken to everyone I know with the confidence in knowing they will be treated with the best legal care possible!
Recently, my family worked with KC Elder Law to execute our life and estate plan. Courtney Roy and her staff were great to work with. From the free consultation to the final signing, they were very responsive and friendly. They helped us navigate several options to make the right choices for our future and our children. We highly recommend!
Rachel was awesome! She helped us through every step with patience and kindness. I highly recommend them for your needs!
We need to get paper right with my elder father and Rachel was amazing she made everything easy and made sure you understood what was going on .... would refer her to anyone that need a great elder lawyer.... thanks a lot
Dan Flack has been a joy to work with! He is always very responsive, and gets to know you on both a professional and personal level. Keep up the great work!
I have been working with KC Elder Law since May of 2017 when we lived in Salina, Kansas. My husband had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease with mild dementia which evolved into Lewy Body Dementia . We knew that Medicaid was an option that we were going to have to do for him as my private funds would eventually be spent. I worked with Kenneth Herring to get my paperwork in order as far as real estate, wills, Durable Power of Attorneys for Health Care & General for both me and my husband. Once this was done, I spent the majority of my time working with Daniel Flack, who specializes in Medicaid for Kansas & Missouri. He became my rock and advisor getting me ready for placing my husband in Medicaid. He answered every question, gave me wonderful advice, never was too busy for me & made me feel like I had a friend to guide me through everything. I did not end up having to file for Medicaid as my husband passed away in December but I would have no hesitation in recommending KC Elder Law to people in this situation. I feel good too knowing that if my children need help with me in the future, that they will guide them like they did me.
Dan Flack is phenomenal to work with. Not only is he quick to respond to e-mails, but he's efficient and enjoyable to talk to. He makes work feel more personal and truly takes pride in his job. Great work, Dan!
KC Elder Law is the best! If you are seeking legal advice look no further, as they are experts in their field. Dan Flack and Lori Sanders are highly knowledgeable, personable, and a joy to work with. I cannot recommend them enough!
Dan Flack is very very helpful, now way we could of handled this process without him, highly recommend KC Elder Law
I never knew what amazing help an Elder Law Attorney could be until I was led to this firm! Amber is so helpful and comes from not only her knowledge of the law but experience. Highly recommend this firm!
We recently had to put my mother in a nursing home. It was very tedious, but Lori Sanders was wonderful with communication, and letting us know what we needed to get Medicaid as far as statements, and was always in contact with us and easy to reach via email or phone. They always told us what documents we needed, and was very helpful in keeping it all straight and telling us what we needed to do! I highly recommend their services to anyone needing elder law help! If needed, we will use again!
They know what they're doing and the price is right
My experience with KC Elder Law was exceptional! Mr. Hammond was so caring and patient while helping my mom through a tough, emotionally charged situation. I can't say enough about his professionalism and knowledge!

If you have aged parents or you are aged please do yourself the biggest favor you can, speak to the wonderful staff at KC Elder Law. They can guide you through the journey of getting the Medicaid jungle figured out as well as all the problems aged people have. Our personal guides through that jungle were Kenneth Herring Attorney and Lori Sanders Medicaid Coordinator. We had a very good experience working with them, the staff was super knowledgeable, friendly, cheerful and returned calls or emails very quickly. They helped us navigate through some hard times with ease. I can't thank them enough. I recommend them very highly.
Bill Hammond and his legal team at KC Elder Law are skilled professionals. They are knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. Their advice and services proved to be invaluable while dealing with the estate of my aging parents. Without Bill’s expert assistance I could never have navigated the maze of legal intricacies I highly recommend KC Elder Law.
Life is easier knowing trusts are established and POAs in place. Thanks for the wonderful work you do!
We can't recommend KC Elder Law enough, their legal expertise and thoughtful strategy to help our parents and disabled brother. Bill Hammond and the legal team, particularly Lori Sanders, managed the maze of Medicaid applications necessary to provide nursing home care for our parents. This is a stressful and complicated process which KC Elder Law handled with thorough attention to detail. We were well supported throughout the process until the successful conclusion.
We had never met with a lawyer before, and were very pleasantly surprised by Bill's optimistic and caring nature. Bill has a wealth of experience to draw from, and that helped allay our fears. KC Elder Law created a trust, living will, and powers of attorney for me and my wife. Highly recommended.
Professional, caring law firm. Highly recommend!!!!
We want you to know that we are very pleased with the quality of service your company provides. We sincerely appreciate your responsiveness and the way you conduct business. We have recommended your company to others because of our satisfaction with your service. Dan Flack really went above and beyond to help us during these extremely stressful times.
We used KC Elder law for my aunt and uncle to reserve cash for their comfort once they had to go on Medicaid. They walked us through the process, then literally held our hand through the whole process of getting them signed up and approved for Medicaid. I cannot say enough good things of Lori Sanders and Bill Hammond. They made a difficult situation so much easier. Thank you KC Elder Law!!
KC Elder Law is a fantastic local business! They have earned our family's trust. Their estate planning is the best in the city! Bill Hammond is one of the top business owners in Kansas City and Dan Flack has helped our restaurant family and we give them 5 stars!!
Charged with taking care of financial planning for my mother and charged with taking care of a Medicaid patient, this firm covered all of my needs from top to bottom. I have worked with them over a period of 15 years and will continue. They are now helping me set up trusts for grandchildren. They cover all needs; know the laws; respect your decisions while giving you their best advise. I have put my confidence with Bill Hammond. There are others in the office that I have consulted with for other reasons. Everyone is professional, knowledgeable and caring. You cannot go wrong with this firm.
I needed assistance and information for financial planning in the event of my death. Kenneth Herring at KC Elder Law was very knowledgeable and patient in answering my many questions. The legal assistants were also readily available. Furthermore, the paperwork was completed in a timely manner. I have already recommended this firm and Kenneth Herring to several of my senior friends.
We came to KC Elder Law and Amber Thailing after having a nightmare experience with a different Firm and Attorney where deadlines were missed, calls with the Judge were missed, details were missed which ultimately lead to 6 months of wasted time, not getting approved, and six months of medical fees stacking up. Amber Thailing was recommended and everything was so easy, smooth and detail oriented with Amber and Dan!! We were approved quickly and with ease. Amber truly cares about our family and doing everything possible to make life a little easier. Thanks Amber & Dan!!!
We first became acquainted with Ken Herring, with KC Elder Law, when he presented a public seminar on Estate Planning. We liked his presentation style and expertise, and believed we would eventually need to talk to him about our aging parents. The time for our initial consultation arrived. Ken first made sure he understood our situation and what our concerns and goals were. He next explained aspects for us to consider and offered solutions that far exceeded our hopes and expectations. Ken is easy to talk to, knowledgeable, reasonable, and compassionate. We believe we now have him as a new friend. When next we need able and effective legal counsel, we know who to turn to for help. Thanks Ken!
Mother was always proud that she would be leaving money to her children once she had passed. I don’t think she ever imagined she would need to move out of her home, much less live in a Dementia Unit. With such high monthly fees at the nursing home, she was going to drain her finances rather quickly. KC Elder Law had a plan to help with that and it all went flawless. I’m speaking for our whole family, when I say KC Elder Law is certainly the way to go when you need help working thru the Laws regarding Seniors. They specialize in knowing what these are and assisting seniors and their families. Mr. Hammond explained what they could do for us in Mother’s situation and Lori Sanders made it happen; letting us know what documents she required as this very complicated process proceeded. She always kept us up to date on what was happening and what to expect next. This would never have happened for us without KC Elder Law. I give them a “10” and will and have recommended them to others. Thank you so much Bill Hammond and Lori Sanders plus any others who assisted. There’s absolutely no way we could have ever gone thru this process without you.
With recent changes in our parents needs, we were referred to KC Elder Law to help us understand the laws and guide us to be able to provide for needs. Lori Sanders was so eager to help us navigate thru this process. She was very professional and understood our desire to protect them . We have had several questions afterwards and she is always willing to talk with us. Our relationship with this group has been one that relieved a lot of anxiety and stress. The success of this journey ended up helping our entire family. We are very thankful! We would highly recommend this group!
I am grateful for the tremendous support and compassion shown to me by Daniel Flack and the rest of the team at KC Elder Law. When I started working with them they were assisting me with my mother and my father. During this journey we have lost my mom and are at the end of life with my 99 year old dad. Throughout this process, I have received OUTSTANDING support. Mr. Flack knows what he is doing and was so very helpful. But, he was also personal and compassionate. One of the best decisions I have made to help my parents was work with Mr. Flack and the team. I cannot more highly recommend these talented and compassionate people. Thank you so much for all you do and the way you do it.
I highly recommend KC Elder Law. Especially Daniel Flack. Daniel was most helpful and patient. Daniel walked me through the process of Medicaid for my mother step by step.
My siblings and I are very appreciative of the guidance given by Bill Hammond. We didn't know where to start with financing options for my parents move to a senior living home. He is a tremendous resource. It is difficult because we didn't know what we didn't know, and we needed someone like Bill who helped us avoid the pitfalls.
I am so appreciative of the expertise I was given by KC Elderlaw to navigate the complex financial options I faced as a result of my husband’s extensive healthcare needs. They are great communicators with and advocates for their clients. They are simply the BEST!
When my mother fell and broke her leg, it was determined that my dad could no longer care for her by himself. I contacted Elder Law and proceeded with the necessary paper work to make it easier for both. Having the help in getting Medicade started and recertification was such a stress relief for me. Thanks for all the helpful information and work you did for my parents! Dan was always there to answer questions for me!
KC Elder Law was fantastic to work with when my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and we needed to create a POA very quickly. They were very professional, compassionate and easy to work with! They are extremely knowledgeable and they worked around my schedule to meet my mom to sign the papers!
The support received from William Hammond's team 6 years ago has made a huge difference in the lives of both my parents and my siblings. At that time I had been staying with my parents to care for them in Missouri (I lived in Colorado) for over 2 years. My mother had Parkinson's Dementia and my dad was suffering from multiple health issues, primarily with his back. He could no longer care for my mother as he had hoped to do. He finally agreed to pursuing nursing home residence. Since my parents did not have sufficient funds for a lengthy nursing home stay, the Elder & Disability Law Firm went to work in determining what our family needed to do to prepare for their future--at that time we had no idea how long that future would be. In addition to assistance with their Medicaid applications--which was invaluable in preparation for their long-term nursing home stay of over 5 years--we also received guidance on SPIA's (single premium immediate annuities), transfer of property, life insurance management, and set-up of irrevocable funeral trusts for their final expenses. My parents recently passed away, 19 days apart. Imagine both my family's surprise and relief when the funeral home bills came out almost to the dollar of what had been invested in their funeral trusts, based upon guidance from our Elder Law attorney. Everything went so smoothly with their funerals and burials, and it was a blessing that we were able to focus on the honoring and memories of each of my parents without the worry about the financial impact of their final expenses. We cannot thank this law firm enough for the incredible support provided to us which has made such a lasting impact to our family.
I cannot commend KC Elder Care enough for their help and compassion! My mom needed assistance with placing my dad (who suffers from Alzheimers) and the road in getting that accomplished (applying for Medicaid, division of assets, etc) to novices such as ourselves was difficult and largely overwhelming. Bill Hammond and Amber Thailing were generous with their time, well informed with the law and assisted us in getting my dad the care he needed and helping my mom in the process. Words cannot express our many thanks!
I was the Durable Power of Attorney for my sister-in-law and her husband when an emergency hospitalized both of them in December 2013, ultimately causing them to have to enter a nursing home. They did not have sufficient funds for that expense, and I was faced with immediately finding a facility for them that would accept Medicaid. The hospital helped me find a temporary nursing home whose staff gave me suggestions about what to do, including a recommendation that I talk with the KC Elder Law Firm. I hired the firm in January 2014 to provide legal services and design a Medicaid plan, as well as any necessary legal documents for implementing it. I fell this was the smartest thing I could have done. After paying the legal fee at the beginning, there have been no other charges. I had numerous questions throughout the process which were all thoughtfully and carefully researched and answered by Dan Flack, the Medicaid Coordinator handling our file. To say that I appreciated that help is a gross understatement! In addition to the Medicaid approval itself, other connected things were done that I'm not sure I could have figured out how to accomplish on my own. I would recommend KC Elder Law Firm to anyone seeking excellent help with the legal aspects of Senior care.
Kenneth Herring and his team have a genuine compassion for elder care. After the passing of my father, I stepped in to assume the growing responsibility of caring for my mother with Alzheimer's. It was only then that I became willing to listen to Kenneth at one of his seminars. If you have any property or assets that you want to pass on or gain as an inheritance, you need the services of an elder care law firm, as you cannot predict what your needs will be. Kenneth and his team provided the legal guidance and counsel that comforted my family during these very difficult times.
My father-in-law, David, has vascular dementia as a result of a major stroke he had 10 days after the passing of his wife. All at once, my husband and I were scrambling to move David from out of state to be closer to us, seek appropriate care, and manage his affairs, all the while we both work and have a young child. We were overwhelmed to say the least. On the advice of a co-worker, I contacted the KC Elder Law office to help us. After meeting with Attorney Ken Herring and our Medicaid Coordinator, Lori Sanders, we immediately felt comforted and knew we could get through this. From generating rigorous Power of Attorney documents that allow us to seamlessly make decisions, to navigating the byzantine Medicaid application process, we felt supported and not so alone in the wilderness of elder care decisions. We could not have successfully applied for Medicaid without the expert guidance from Lori. There are so many parts and pieces and she walked us through step-by-step. If I had a question, I got an answer almost immediately. Our application was approved so much faster than I could have hoped, and we were able to preserve some of David's assets. Caring for an aging parent or family member is emotional and exhausting. We were so grateful to have help from KC Elder Law.
