Changes to Medicaid in 2022
In March of 2020, The State of Missouri declared a health care emergency and issued an order which provided, among other things, that anyone currently receiving Medicaid benefits would continue receiving them regardless of their continued eligibility. In other words, due to the temporary emergency order, anyone receiving Missouri Medicaid benefits in March of 2020 would continue to receive those benefits even if their circumstances changed in a way that would normally disqualify that person from receiving Missouri Medicaid benefits.
Last week, January 1st, 2022, The State of Missouri declared that the temporary emergency order is no longer in effect, meaning that Missouri Medicaid recipients who no longer meet the requirements for Missouri Medicaid eligibility cannot receive Missouri Medicaid benefits. All Missouri Medicaid Recipients who no longer meet eligibility requirements but had continued to receive benefits temporarily due to the emergency order will be sent a letter by the State notifying them that their benefits have been discontinued.
